50 years in the making
On the 30th August, former students who attended Peakhurst High School in the 1960s gathered to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of their school.
In the afternoon, our first school captain, Paul Eggert, gave a speech at the school in the new auditorium.
Later that same day, we celebrated with an exhilarating and nostalgic party at Padstow RSL.
By the late 1960s, Peakhurst High School had students enrolled in Forms 1 - 6, and students could sit for their School Certificate in Fourth Form, and their Higher School Certificate in Sixth Form.
In 2000, Georges River College (GRC) was formed, and Peakhurst High School became Peakhurst Campus, a coeducational middle campus (Years 7 - 10) of GRC.
Peakhurst High and Georges River College
GRC is an exciting learning community with four years of specialist 7-10 education and welfare in the three middle schools (Hurstville Boys Campus, Peakhurst Campus and Penshurst Girls Campus) followed by two years of preparation for living, studying and working in a coeducational world at Oatley Senior Campus.
Georges River College is now known for its strong academic achievement and professional, vibrant education based on modern teaching and learning pedagogy and andragogy in stimulating and challenging educational environments where young people fulfill their potential and future ambitions.
