About Peakhurst High School in the 60s

Peakhurst High School first opened its doors to students in 1964.

The first intake of students comprised 222 students in eight First Form (Year 7) classes - 1A to 1H - and 13 staff.

There were four buildings; A, B, C and D blocks. The library was located in the lower level of A block. E block was added a few years later. There was no auditorium. Assemblies were held in the quadrangle between B and D blocks.

Since then, an auditorium, called The Dome, has been added and then replaced by a new auditorium that was officially opened during the 50th Anniversary celebrations. The school now also has a dedicated library block.
